Our Story
Our Story
Built by two blokes who thought Exeter deserved a better barbershop.
In 2019 Jake Mercer was cutting hair at a chain barbershop in London and quietly losing his mind.
Fifteen-minute slots. Clippers, no consultation, in and out, next. The cuts were fine — the experience was hollow. He left, moved back to Exeter, and started looking for a shop that did it properly. He couldn't find one.
So he opened one. Two chairs at first. Then four. Now six. Same idea every time we hire someone, every time we order products, every time we decide what the playlist sounds like: would we want this if we walked in as a customer? If not, change it.
Seven years on, 12,000+ gents served, and the core cut price hasn't gone up. Walk-ins are still welcome. The espresso machine still works. The chairs are still proper leather. The mirrors still get cleaned every morning. And every barber here still has time for a conversation, because we book 45-minute slots and we mean it.
That's it. That's the whole story. A barbershop should feel like a barbershop. We just make sure ours does.

What We Stand For
Three Things, In This Order
01
Craft
Every cut is a conversation, a consultation, and a commitment.
02
Honesty
We'll tell you if a style won't suit you. That's respect, not rudeness.
03
Community
We sponsor the local rugby club. We do charity cuts. We're part of this city.
